On Saturday, September 23, 2017, four of my CCHS students accompanied me to the Annual AATSP-GA (American Association of Teachers of Spanish and Portugese) Conferfernce. This year, the conference was held at Baggett Elementary (home of Advocate Guru, Sr. Joe Uriz) in Lawrenceville, GA.
The students: Nader Ahmed, Jaely Chavez, Delia Hernandez, and Jackeline Molina volunteered their time to serve as conference helpers. It was a long day that started at 7:00 a.m. These students did such a terrific job and superbly represented CCHS as well as myself at this event! I am very proud!! Hola students and parents,
This semester, the Spanish I students will be adding a visual element to their tarjetas. If you have any old magazines that you can donate, it would be greatly appreciated. Spanish I will start the Free-Time (Self & Leisure) unit and we will need clear pictures of people conducting ACTIONS commonly associated with free-time, such as sports, watching t.v., dancing, reading, cooking, etc. Gracias Notification: The lesson plans for week #13 will be taught in week #14 for ALL of my classes. Due to Election Week, I decided to modify my lessons for all classes. All lessons were conducted in 95% + in Spanish and were highly rigorous. The lessons were as follows:
11-7-16: Election vocabulary (no opinions by teacher or students) 11-9-16 thru 11-11-16: The film, 'La Misma Luna', rated PG-13. The film is 98%+ in Spanish without subtitles. Note: students did not receive any guides prior to the film - this was intentional. The objective was for the students to lower their affective filters (approx. 15-20) minutes after the film started to actually use their auditory & visual skills to process the input of the film. Hence, allowing students to comprehend the content and follow the sequence of events of the film. |
